September 18

September 18 is an important date in the traditions of my country. Many countries celebrate their anniversary of independence. In Chile there is as well, there was a series of processes to achieve it, since the "Primera Junta de Gobierno" (September 18, 1810) to Bernardo O'Higgins abdication of the position of Supreme Director (28 January1823). My country celebrates the first, on 18 September, although this independence is not yet constituted as such.

As expected this national anniversary, brings a series of festivities and traditions, ranging from food and drinks to games and dances. Not to mention the military parade, in September 19.

Throughout the country is celebrated in different ways, but there are certain homogeneity, such as:
The "cueca", the national dance of my country is one of the main traditions, in fact, to inaugurate the events of these dates, it is almost an obligation to perform "un pie de cueca". In turn there are also different types of dances such as: The Northern cueca, the Chiloe cueca, dancing Easter Island (Rapanui), etc.
One of the most important traditions is the "September bonus" (aguinaldo), a sum of money given to workers so they can celebrate this holiday.
The placement of the flag of Chile in all public and private buildings in the country for Independence Day is mandatory, but the 2010 bicentennial was a bit of flexibility.

Personally every year, when I celebrates this holidays, I have the same problem. I have to decide where to spend the holidays. The first option is a family dinner in Santiago, full of formalities, but also full of food. Unlike the second option are some parties in the countryside, with little food, as i often trave alone, but full of surprises, alcohol and beautiful girls.

I think some time should choose the first.

Uyui!!
